We’re proud to have completed the fit-out for luxury skincare brand Aesop’s newest concept store, located in the prestigious One New Change retail destination in the heart of London. As the principal contractor for the project, we were responsible for the full fit-out, including bespoke joinery and painting, all carefully crafted in our own workshop.
Designed with a deep commitment to environmental responsibility, the 57 sqm space introduces a design-led approach inspired by the principles of the circular economy. Working alongside Aesop’s visionary team and retail landlord Landsec, our aim was to bring their values to life through sustainable craftsmanship and refined detail.
True to Aesop’s ethos, the store was constructed using reclaimed materials salvaged from their former head office at Long Yard and a previous counter at Selfridges. Our team played a key role in carefully repurposing these materials, reworking old office tables into bespoke shelving, a central counterpiece, and ceiling structures. The store’s basin, a centrepiece of Aesop’s sensorial in-store experience, was also repurposed from a past installation.
Every joinery element was fabricated in our fully equipped London workshop, where we prioritise both quality and sustainability. Our experienced team ensured that each reclaimed material was expertly restored and reshaped to meet Aesop’s exacting standards while preserving the character and history of the originals.
Our in-house painting team then applied carefully selected finishes, chosen to complement Aesop’s minimal, textural aesthetic and enhance the natural warmth of the reused materials. The result is a space that is not only visually striking but tactile, immersive, and deeply sustainable.
More than just a retail outlet, Aesop One New Change is a sensory, educational, and immersive space that reflects the brand’s vision for responsible design. As Ryad Djellas, Aesop’s General Manager for Europe, expressed:
“The experience within any Aesop store, and our relationship with our customers, is never a simply transactional one: it is also sensorial, educational and always bespoke… We aim to sustainably create a distinctive retail environment that is connected to One New Change. We hope to weave ourselves into the fabric of St Paul’s and look forward to welcoming customers.”
We are incredibly proud to have been part of this project, delivering a fit-out that aligns with our own values of craftsmanship, care, and sustainability.
At Cumberland Group, we work in partnership with our clients to realise their vision in a way that’s functional, ethical, and future-forward. Our experience in luxury retail, combined with our in-house manufacturing capabilities, allows us to deliver unique, detail-rich environments with precision and purpose.
The new Aesop store at One New Change is a perfect example of what can be achieved when craftsmanship and sustainability go hand in hand.
